One thing that’s kept us sane this year is food—delicious, delicious food. And the beautiful thing about our resilient food and beverage industry is, despite the hardships they’re facing because of the pandemic, they haven’t stopped innovating and serving their hungry customers.
Here’s a roundup of food news that got us excited in the past week.
All-‘pancit’ delivery
This is it, pancit!
The Moment Group, the company behind Manam, Ooma, 8Cuts, Din Tai Fung and more, introduced a delivery-only concept last week: Papa Pancitan.
Papa Pancitan serves different kinds of pancit and noodles, perfect for all kinds of gatherings—Pancit Canton, Pancit Bihon, Pancit Sisig, Pancit Palabok, Papa-Party Spaghetti, Papa Kung Pow Noodles, Crispy Pancit Canton, Crispy Pancit Palabok and Pancit Squid Negra with Garlic Aioli. They come in four bilao sizes.
There are other dishes to go with the noodles, of course. House Pork BBQ, Lumpiang Shanghai, Lumpiang Gulay, Fried Pepita Pao, Crispy Papa-ta, Fried Mama-nok. For dessert, they have the chewy Papa’s Ube Cheese Balls which come with carioca sauce.

A Boracay favorite’s Manila pop-up
Our favorite all-day breakfast café in Boracay has launched a pop-up in Manila, which will run until Feb. 28, 2021, for dine-in, takeaway or delivery.
That gives us plenty of time to enjoy our favorites including the The Sunny Side Champorado, The Sunny Side Roesti, Chorizo & Eggs and Bacon Slab & Eggs. Who are we kidding? We love everything on Sunny Side Café’s menu: Kitayama Beef Tapsilog, Chorizo Baked Mac and Cheese, Bacon & Mango Grilled Cheese, The Sunny Side Choriburger and more. They serve killer pancakes, too. They also whip up smoothies and fruit shakes that Boracay is famous for.
The Sunny Side Café Manila Pop-Up is at The Grid, Power Plant Mall, Makati City; tel. 0917-7077459 , 0917-7022534; @thegridfoodmarket on Instagram.
Barbecue for delivery
The Sunny Side Group has also launched Tabi-Tabi. They’ve applied what they’ve learned about grilling from Spice Bird and Please Senpai to Pinoy barbecue.
Using a delicious muscovado-garlic sauce created by chef Natalia Moran, they grill pork and chicken barbecue and serve it with garlic confit rice, monggo with tinapa and ensaladang papaya for a most satisfying meal. The barbecue also comes in family-sized trays for bigger groups.
Tabi-Tabi is for delivery only. Tel. 0917-7030729; @off_gridph on Instagram.
New food ordering website
The Grid wants to make ordering easier for its customers and so it has introduced a new website: thegridfoodmarket.com. There you’ll get access to The Grid’s different stalls. Right now, six are up on the site—Tsuke-men, Gochu-gang, Babu, Samyan, Granivore and Workshop—but we expect more to be live soon.
Use the code THEGRIDWELCOME to get P500 off your first order (for a minimum purchase of P1,000).
Gourmet deli online
Chefs Chele Gonzalez and Carlos Villaflor have launched Deli by Chele. They serve all kinds of goodness—from kombucha and jam to ham, pastrami and guanciale.
