Actor Rafael Rosell felt his communication skills improved a lot when the coronavirus pandemic took its toll on the country.
Rosell recalled what life was like with the onset of the pandemic during the online conference for iWant TFC original “Bawal Lumabas: The Series” last Dec. 8.
“Parang na-enhance ang communication skills ko dahil tsinek ko kung okay ang lahat sa relatives, sa family, sa friends ko kung okay silang lahat,” the actor shared.
(It was like my communication skills were enhanced because I checked if everything was okay among my relatives, family and friends.)
Not only that — he got used to the new normal which is communicating virtually.
“Nasanay na rin siguro sa ganitong klaseng meeting para sabihin sa bawat isa kung ano ang dapat gawin (I got used to this kind of meeting to tell each and everyone what to do), how do we proceed from here, how to get our daily produce, how to prepare our daily food,” he related.
While being on lockdown, Rosell had a large amount of time to read and research about COVID-19 and everything in between.
“Nagkaroon din ako ng moment na sobrang puro research naman ako sa tungkol virus na ito (I also had a moment where all I did was research about the virus), tungkol sa mga (about the) political standing ng (of) [the] U.S., how it affects Asia, how China is doing their thing and how Philippines is getting occupied,” he said.
For him, it was a “very cloudy moment” but he realized that communication and updating each other is very, very important.
“It’s very of the essence talaga (really) to find a way to be sustainable, not to spend everything that you have in one go. Only buy the necessary stuff. It was very [much a] emergency situation talaga (really),” he stressed.
Rosell plays Jonathan Palma, political and history teacher and former lover of Kim Chiu’s character in “Bawal Lumabas: The Series,” which premiered on the streaming service yesterday, Dec. 14.
When asked about his takeaway in playing his character, Rosell felt an appreciation of what life was like before the pandemic.
“We used to have it really good. Iyong takeway ko is that nakaka-miss iyong normal (My takeaway is that I miss the normal),” he said.
“So, just appreciate how life used to be when it was more convenient, when all this pandemic wasn’t happening pa (yet). We had it really good before at sana balang araw (I hope in the future) it will just be as good again.” NVG
