Gretchen Ho to join more community rides this year

Former volleyball player Gretchen Ho is back to cycling again and is enjoying every minute of it.

Ho felt she needed to condition herself again as she is joining a virtual challenge, she stated in her Instagram post today, Jan. 5.

“Back on the Saddle” came Ho’s apt caption on her Instagram photos and a video which showed her cycling around the University of the Philippines – Diliman campus.

“Rested my body the past months from years of rigorous training… but time to get in condition again. Went around the UP campus today (bawal pa kasi sa oval (it is still not allowed in the oval),” she said, thanking singer-songwriter Bullet Dumas who guided her through the campus.

Ho said she wants to do more community rides in 2021 and is starting with a 60-kilometer virtual challenge.

“It’s nice to have targets for personal discipline,” she said. Pushing herself further, she added that she is considering joining a 500-km challenge too.

Ho has been working on making biking more accessible to Filipinos. She started a “Donate a Bike, Save a Job” campaign last year. From the initial 50 bikes she pledged to give to deserving people, she has so far given 1,000 bikes. Among those celebrities who participated in her campaign were Piolo Pascual, Sam Milby, Zanjoe Marudo, Karen Davila and Catriona Gray. NVG
