LOOK: Maxene Magalona lauds food-sharing efforts in Bali

Actress and yoga instructor Maxene Magalona is amazed at how a satellite kitchen in Bali, Indonesia is able to help people who have been affected by the pandemic.

Magalona lauded a villa’s efforts in bringing freshly-cooked food to local Balinese folk, as per her Instagram page yesterday, Feb. 7, where she showed photos and clips of how the food is prepared.

“For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been spending my Sunday mornings in a beautiful villa in Ubud called @villacellabella which is where one of the satellite kitchens of @scholarsofsustenanceid is located,” she said.

“Their kind staff headed by chef Widia prepares 50 [to] 70 [plus] meals a day and distributes them to local Balinese people in their area who currently have no access to food due to the pandemic,” she added. “Thanks to the relief efforts of @scholarsofsustenanceid, they get a fresh supply of ingredients and cook delicious meals like perkedel jagung (corn fritters), tempeh kecap (fried tempeh in sweet soy sauce) and nasi goreng (fried rice).”

Magalona personally observed how food preparations were done and she was moved at the efforts of those who are behind it.

“I’ve seen how they put so much love in every step of the process which has truly been inspirational and heartwarming. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such exuberant energy during these difficult times,” she commended them. “Hats off to @scholarsofsustenanceid, chef @nickkimvs and @villacellabella for this amazing collaboration of generosity and compassion.”

Magalona then asked fans and followers to help spread love by making donations to the project.

“If any of you have some extra resources to share with this non-profit organization, please do so by donating through the link in my bio. Let’s help them continue the good work that they do and pray that God blesses them even more,” she appealed.

Magalona and her husband, musician Rob Mananquil, have been living in Indonesia since after they were stranded due to international border closures amid the Covid-19 pandemic. They have been making the most of their stay by practicing meditation and teaching yoga. JB
