What Chesca Garcia does when she runs out of patience: ‘P.R.A.Y.’

Patience is a virtue for moms like Chesca Garcia, and when she is on the verge of losing it, she resorts to an acronym she learned from church.

Garcia admitted that there are times when frustration sets in as per her Instagram post today, Feb. 10, where she shared a photo that showed her homeschooling her 8-year-old son Gavin.

Aware of moms who assist their children with homeschooling and distance learning, Garcia asked, “How has life been with all the changes?”

“I know it can be frustrating at times and some days feel like you just want to give up,” she stated.

With that, she offered a solution which she thinks would help moms whose patience is put to the test.

“Here is an acronym that I learned from church and is easy to remember. It not only helps me when I teach my kids, but can be practiced at all times; esp when your patience is being tested. Don’t forget to, P. R. A. Y!” she said.

“P-ause and take a deep breath. R-esist your first impulse. A-sk the Holy Spirit to fill you. Y-ield to the Holy Spirit on how you should react.”

Life can sometimes be frustrating and after caving in to worries, Garcia gives everything up to the Lord.

“Sometimes, I let worry occupy my mind. Then I come to the Lord in prayer to help me with my restlessness and frustrations. As I pour myself out to Him in almost an instant God envelops me with his loving assurance to not worry, and nothing that I do is in vain,” she said.

“I just have to trust him, continue to walk in obedience, and he will take care of the rest for me. Nothing is in vain, our Labor is not in vain,” she added, citing a verse from Matthew 11:28 which said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Besides being mom and teacher to Gavin, Garcia also looks after her older daughters Kendra, 11, and Scarlett, 9. She and former cager Doug Kramer have been married for 12 years. NVG
