Kendall Jenner is now in the business of making tequila

Kendall Jenner introduced her business baby 818, a tequila brand, on Instagram today. Between modeling for big sister Kim’s shapewear venture, posing for the cover of Vogue China, and ad work for brands like Versace, Kendall says she was on the hunt for “the best tasting tequila.”

She’s clearly proud of her new project as it has garnered a few spirit industry awards, such as Best Reposado Tequila at the World Tequila Awards and the Chairman’s Trophy at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge. 818 brings you tequilas handcrafted in Jalisco, Mexico, made from 100 percent blue agaves. The alcoholic drink takes its name from the Mexican city, known for the red volcanic soils where the agave plant flourishes.

Congratulations poured in as Kendall went public with her brand. You’ve got fellow model Gigi Hadid, photographer Mert Alas, singer-songwriter Harry Hudson, among many others from Kendall’s circle sharing the good news on Instagram Stories.

WWD reports that 818 will carry three tequila types: reposado tequila, blanco tequila, and añejo tequila. A formal launch date has yet to be revealed.

With 818, Kendall joins the “celebrity who’s also a booze entrepreneur” group. Members include Post Malone, who has a French Riviera rosé, Cameron Diaz with her organic wine brand called Avaline, and Ryan Reynolds, who is part of the team behind Aviation Gin.

818 isn’t exactly the first Kendall-backed business. In 2019, the eldest of Caitlyn and Kris Jenner’s children invested in luxury oral care brand Moon.
