Kapuso actor and businessman Dingdong Dantes believes his child Ziggy ought to experience playing out in the open and know what it’s like to be enjoying old-school games.
Dantes expressed those thoughts as he shared with fans and followers his son’s first few moments in a swing, as seen in his Instagram page yesterday, Feb. 21, where he posted photos of Ziggy with his mom, actress Marian Rivera.
“I couldn’t help myself from documenting his first time to try a swing since he was born. Wala pa kasi siyang one year old nung nagsimula ang lockdown (He’s not even one year old when the lockdown started),” he said. “At first, may takot pero dahil andiyan si Mama, he became comfortable, eventually (At first, I have fears but since Mama is there, he became comfortable, eventually).”
For him, nothing can give greater joy than seeing his son get dirty from playing.
“What a joy to see him explore playing in an open space and get his hands dirty and on the ground. Wala pa ring tatalo sa mga old school na laro na makakapag-hubog ng development ng isang bata (Nothing beats old school games which help shape the development of a kid),” he noted. “How I wish that we could go back to these outdoor activities, and have the opportunity for our children to freely play with other kids.”
Dantes also believes that “instead of comparing the past from the present reality, it is our duty to recreate the values of these ‘experiences’ even within the confines of our own homes.”
“All it takes is a little creativity and imagination, no matter how big or small our ‘better worlds’ are,” Dantes said.
Dantes understands that given the realities of the new normal, everyone needs to be extra careful. He thus recalled his high school teacher, one Ron Capinding, who said, “Lahat puwede, pero hindi lahat dapat.” (All can be done, but not all should be done.)
Dantes and Rivera were married in 2014. A year after, their first baby was born, Zia. Four years later, their second child, son Ziggy, war born. JB
