Julia Barretto may be one of the most bashed and misjudged celebrities in the local movie industry. Amid the bashings, she chooses to keep quiet and take control of her emotions, at least most of the time, she said in a conversation with her sister Dani Barretto, in the latter’s latest vlog episode in YouTube, Feb. 22.
She was asked by her elder sister Dani about how she copes with being misjudged all the time, with Dani praising her.
“I always tell her, ‘Julia if I were in your position I would have handled it differently.’ But she always handles it with so much grace. Ako kasi aggressive ako, eh (I am aggressive). Other people would wanna know like how is she surviving because you’re quiet. You’re very quiet,” Dani addressed Julia.
“Yeah, to a fault. Quiet to a fault. But it’s okay. I don’t know, I always have to pray for grace in all situations,” said Julia. “I feel like I just learned how to compartmentalize things. What matters and what doesn’t matter.”
Julia said that she takes the judgments based on whether the people who make them matter in her life or not.
“So, if we’re talking about judgments from people that have no significant role in my life, it really doesn’t bother me because ‘what do you know?’” she explained. “But if we’re talking about judgments from people in my life, I’m just glad that I’ve really become more picky with who I want to be in my life, because now I know that the judgments are always constructive, and they’re always because out of concern, or it’s just to help make me a better person and to guide me.”
She stressed that it helps her deal with bashers, by being aware about “what doesn’t matter and what matters, who doesn’t matter and who matters.”
“And I think I’ve always just had that mindset of just keep pressing forward,” she added.
Julia was recently seen in the beach resort of rumored boyfriend, actor Gerald Anderson. Speculations circulated that she and Anderson were already an item even before Anderson found closure from his relationship with actress Bea Alonzo. JB
