Isabel Oli’s advice to those going through tough times: Read devotionals

Actress Isabel Oli believes that more often than not, people are easily discouraged when the going gets tough and the best way to deal with it is by reading a spiritual passage.

“We often times get trapped with self-pity and the sense of feeling entitled. Especially when we are hurt, down, and going through tough times,” she said in her Instagram page on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

“This daily devo I read this morning was pretty timely. I haven’t been well emotionally lately, and reading this today really lifted me. Surely, I have no one to thank, but my Father in heaven for His message, and instruction,” she added.

Oli shared that during hard times, she falls into the trap of overthinking and therefore makes wrong decisions after emotions overpower her capacity to think logically.

“I would often catch myself thinking of ME – my feelings, my rights, what others owe me – rather than thinking how Jesus would want me to respond as His child,” she said. “God, through His Word, reminded me to lift my eyes and fix my gaze on Him ‘cause He is the only source of wisdom, joy and peace.”

During hard times, the best way to overcome trials, Oli stressed, is by getting a devotional which will ease one’s burden.

“His word will truly be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. (Psalm 109:105) It will guide you what to do. It will help you deal the situation with godly wisdom,” she said. “Read His word when in doubt, when you’re down, depressed, feeling lonely, and even when you are on cloud 9. Read it all the time.”

Oli has been married to actor John Prats since 2015. They have three children, with the youngest being born last year. JB
