Working with her husband FM Reyes as her director in the teleserye “Ang sa Iyo ay Akin” is no problem for actress Rita Avila.
Avila who plays Belen, the mother of Iza Calzado’s character Ellice Ceñidoza-Villarosa, said it all boils down to professionalism and just focusing on the job.
“Trabaho talaga kami. Professional po kami,” Avila said during the online press conference last Friday, March 5, for the show’s finale week.
(It’s all work for us. Other people might not believe it, but it’s really all work for us. When we arrive at the set, he is the director, I am Rita. He actually calls me “Rita Avila” on the set. We’re professionals.)
Avila said they were very careful not to mix their personal and professional feelings on the set just because they’re husband and wife in real life.
“We know kung saan kami nakatayo. We know our responsibilities, siya bilang director at ako bilang artista.”
(I don’t want other actors next to me feeling that I am treated differently just because I am his wife. We’re not like that. We know where we stand. We know our responsibilities, he as a director and I as an actress.)
As Belen who made life harder for Jodi Sta. Maria’s character Marisaa Pineda, Avila has given a marked performance.
Everybody talaga will make you cry,” she said.
(That’s the beauty of doing soap, because everyone is given a moment to shine, more so now that it is ending. It gives you goosebumps. Everybody will really make you cry.)
So, what’s there to look forward to in the finale?
(Watch out for the rumble scene of four women here – Iza [Calzado], Jodi [Sta. Maria], [Maricel Soriano] and me. It’s our last big scene so you really need to finish it.)
“Ang sa Iyo ay Akin,” created by Julie Anne Benitez and Dindo C. Perez, airs Monday to Friday at 8:40 p.m. on A2Z channel and TV5. Digital TV box users can scan and look for A2Z channel in Metro Manila and in some parts of Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal, Bataan, Batangas, Bulacan and Pampanga. JB
