MAKATI CITY — The 2021 Tourism Ambassador Universe pageantry again moved its competition dates because of the COVID-19 pandemic to July 7-12 in Kota Kinabalu.
Myla Villagonzalo Tsutaichi, the Tokyo-based Filipino woman who bagged the Mrs. Tourism Ambassador International crown in the contest’s maiden edition last year, shared the updated schedule with the Inquirer.
The international organization originally scheduled the competitions in February but moved the schedule to April because of the ongoing pandemic. The international pageantry event is set to crown several winners in multiple divisions — Master, Mrs., Mister, Miss, Prince, and Princess.
Tsutaichi is set to serve double-duty in the competition, as both a reigning titleholder who will relinquish her crown and a judge.
“I feel honored to be personally invited by the owner, Baq Haji Arfha, to serve as judge,” she told the Inquirer in an online interview. It is not clear, though, if she will serve as a judge in all divisions, and whether all winners will be proclaimed in a single coronation event.
“I enjoyed my journey as Mrs. Tourism Ambassador International, and I wish my successor good luck,” she added.
Tsutaichi said she cherishes her international crown because it serves as a symbol of the fulfillment of her dream. She also threw her support to the Philippines’ representative to the 2021 pageant, Cebu-based host and entrepreneur Aida Patana.
