Bubbles Paraiso questions society that ‘insults women for being strong’

Actress and yoga teacher Bubbles Paraiso is surprised whenever people refer to her well-built body as a negative thing, particularly amid traditional expectations that a woman must look feminine.

Paraiso recalled two incidents when she was questioned about being muscular, as per her Instagram page yesterday, March 20.

“One time while teaching kids yoga, one of my students tapped my belly and said ‘teacher why is your tummy so hard?’ To which I replied ‘because it’s muscle’ and she said ‘noooooo! Only daddy has muscles not girls!’” she said.

Apparently, a similar thing happened again, but this time in the form of unsavory online comments.

“Recently, since I’ve appeared back on TV, I’ve been seeing comments saying I ‘look like an mma fighter’ as if I would take having a strong physique as an insult,” she said.

Paraiso is therefore baffled as to why some people view muscular women in a different light.

“Why? Why does our society try to insult women for being strong? Why is it not normal for us to have strong physiques?? Who gave you the right to criticize my body for being what it is?” she asked. “We are either too fat, too thin, too muscular — it seems we can never win.”

But for Paraiso, the battle against stereotyping women can be won for “as long as we stop trying to please these people and work on ourselves FOR OURSELVES then we will ALWAYS WIN.”

“I am strong, I am capable, I am fast. I am a triathlete,” she stressed. “Amazona always and forever.”

Aside from being a triathlete who’s into running, biking and swimming, Paraiso also engages in sports nutrition. JB
