Former Miss Universe Catriona Gray is really excited to see her parents whom she had not seen in over a year, so much so that she cannot help but turn emotional about it.
Born to an Australian father, Ian Gray, and a Filipina mother, Normita Ragas Magnayon, Gray spoke about their upcoming reunion after a long time, as seen on her Instagram post today, May 4. She shared a photo of the sky and an airplane’s wing, as seen from her passenger seat.
“After countless rescheduled flights, two flight cancelations, swab tests, stress, applications and waiting… I’m finally on my way to see my parents for the first time in one and a half years,” the beauty queen said.
Gray, who won the Miss Universe title 2018, has made a vow to see her dad “at least 4 times a year,” but with the onslaught of the the COVID-19 pandemic, they found themselves mostly apart.
“I know I’m not alone, as so many families face the same reality in the time of CoVid,” she said.
“It’s always been a fear of mine, having an older father, of not having enough time with him. I don’t want to one day, be full of regret for not having given time to one of the most important people in my life.”
The beauty queen thanked her “brand and advocacy families as well as my @cornerstone family” for allowing her to spend time with her family.
“I’m sending my whole heart to families who are in the same position as mine. Praying that you’ll be together soon,” she added.
Last December, Gray also spoke about how she misses celebrating Christmas with her family.
“I’m missing my family terribly and unfortunately wasn’t able to go home to them because of travel restrictions, but I’m grateful to be spending it with new family,” she said on her Instagram page, Dec. 23. JB
