Out of fear that she might cause panic among her costars, actress Barbie Imperial did not announce on her social media account when she tested positive for COVID-19.
Aside from that, her social media timeline mostly carries throwback material, and this might cause confusion, she explained during the online press conference on April 27 for the finale week of her TV series “Bagong Umaga.”
“Baka malito ‘yung mga tao na nakasama ko kung kelan ba talaga iyon at baka isipin nila nakasama ko sila noong day na ‘yun, eh, hindi naman talaga,” she added.
(People whom I was with might get confused as to when I got infected and they might think that I was with them that day, when it’s not really the case.)
After her lock-in taping for the series, Imperial just left home.
“Pinili ko na lang na ‘wag mag-post. Wala naman din akong naka-contact na ibang tao, pamilya ko lang,” she said. (I chose not to post. I didn’t have contact with other people anyway, just my family.)
Working in a lock-in set-up was also a bit hard for Imperial because she could not bring along her mom.
“Close ako sa Mama ko at hindi ko na siya puwedeng isama kasi tumatanda na siya so kasama ko na lang ang PA ko. Ang hirap kasi parang nagtatrabaho ka pero sobrang nagwo-worry ka sa kalagayan ng pamilya mo,” she shared.
(I am close to my mom and I cannot bring her along because she is getting old, so I was just with my personal assistant. It’s hard, because it’s like you are working but you are also worried about your family’s condition.)
Working during the pandemic has also made Imperial realize the value of time.
“Parang palagi akong nasa labas, palagi akong umaalis,” she recalled. “And then noong nangyari ‘yung pandemic, sana pala nag-spend ako ng maraming time with my family noong kaya pa.”
(It was like I was always outside, I was always going somewhere. And then the pandemic happened, I should have spent more time with my family when I still could.) JB
