MANILA, Philippines — A local charity foundation lauded four local artists for their watercolor depictions of the Filipino’s indomitable spirit amid the raging COVID-19 pandemic.

“In February, a call to submit artwork was put out to all the members of the PGW for the #LivinLocal Watercolor Art Contest. Each artwork was to depict their interpretation of the Filipino’s indomitable artistry and spirit, and their love and support for all things local,  while honoring the hard work of our kababayans in this new normal,” Gifts and Graces said in a statement on Saturday.

“Artists from all over responded to the call, including Mr. Eduardo Solano, who bagged the grand prize. Living in Cebu City and being in nature, he joined the #LivinLocal contest to show his support and honor for our local fishermen,” it added. There were 36 entries in the contest.

Other awardees include Jenny Lyn Patricio, whose “Weapon #1” showed an “expression of her emotions and experiences during the pandemic.”  Jirah May Milano’s “Sining at Kapangyarihan” meanwhile got the People’s Choice Award after garnering the most likes on social media.
