During this global health crisis, frontliners have evolved as superhumans, ready to risk everything just to make our lives easier and our health in place. These medical professionals, bank employees, supermarket staff, policemen, businessmen, veterinarians, pharmacists, educators, and even farmers and fisherfolks work tirelessly to deliver the goods and services that we need while the rest of us stay comfortably at home. But we might have forgotten that these superhumans are first and foremost, humans, too. According to a 2020 consumer study conducted by P&G Health, 99% of Filipinos in Metro Manila have experienced tusok-tusok (tingling sensation), pamamanhid (numbness), or pangangalay (muscle weakness).
Real people with real “nerve-fessions”
We have recently spoken with three frontliners who perform beyond their call of duty, six or seven times a week.
Jesusa Punzalan, Principal of Talang High School in Pampanga, has been adjusting to the digital shift of traditional classes to online learning since last year. One year later, Punzalan and her co-educators are still doing the manual preparation and delivery of modules to students, thus the exhaustion and burnout. “Because of my school designation, I cannot afford to miss out on my schedules. Symptoms of nerve damage such as numbness or pamamanhid could hinder the efficient execution of my duties. Kaya nung nakita ko ang friend ko na nag-take ng Vitamin B complex, I became interested (I saw a friend taking Vitamin B complex, I became interested). But being a stage 2 osteoarthritic patient taking glucosamine, I had to ask my orthopedic doctor if it’s okay to take Vitamin B. That was the time when my grip had loosened, and my fingers were always numb. Fortunately, my doctor agreed and that’s when I started using Vitamins B1+B6+B12 (Neurobion) three years ago. Since 2019 until now, my nerves are more relaxed, and even with how full my schedule is, my tusok-tusok has occurred less and less, so my doctor has made it part of my maintenance,” the 56-year-old School Principal said.
Juvy Avellaneda Pelmonte is a businesswoman, a mother of four and a fur parent to several pets, balances her daily routine between being a homemaker and a manager of her retail store which sells homewares in Quezon City. “Araw-araw kong hinahati ang oras ko sa family lalo sa umaga bago umalis papuntang store. Pagdating sa bahay lagi akong pagod, minsan pag-uwi di ako makatulog dahil sa pangangalay ng braso at binti ko. Although I get massages often, it still doesn’t relieve me of the pain,” the 55-year-old businesswoman-mom expressed (Every day, I juggle my time between taking care of my family especially in the morning before rushing to my store, When I arrive home, I am already exhausted. I used to go home and not be able to sleep because my feet and limbs would hurt.)
She admits taking Vitamins B1+B6+B12 (Neurobion) as recommended by her sister-in-law who happens to be a physician. “I’ve been taking this for six years now and I feel so much better despite my hectic daily schedule. Tapos may energy pa akong mag-spend ng quality time with my family, nagka-karaoke, or movie marathon kami,” she said. (Now, I get home with so much energy, enough to still spend quality time with my family by singing the karaoke and doing movie marathons with them).
Another long-time user of B Vitamins is 61-year-old Dr. Pedro Tutanes, a veterinarian who owns and manages Doc Pete Veterinary Services located in Makati City and Taguig. Running two clinics daily, caring for confined pets while attending to emergency walk-in pet patients is a tedious task. Upon the recommendation of a doctor, Dr. Tutanes started taking Vitamins B1+B6+B12 (Neurobion) daily for seven years now: “I used to experience pangangalay in my hands, legs, and feet. Moving around was difficult. Now, I can move and travel between my two clinics better, care for pet patients, and do home service check-ups more efficiently. Since I began using it, the quality of my life has been enhanced and I can live my life to the fullest, without worrying about my nerve health,” Dr. Tutanes confessed.
B Vitamins and proper nerve function and health
Neuropathy or nerve damage, a clinical condition caused by deficiency of B vitamins, is most common among those who perform repetitive movements for a prolonged period, that put stress on their arms, hands, legs, or feet. It is also frequent among those with diabetes and other degenerative diseases. However, genetics and unhealthy lifestyle are also predisposing factors. Among us Filipinos, neuropathy usually manifests through tusok-tusok, pamamanhid, or pangangalay—symptoms which we usually dismiss only as exhaustion or being overworked.
Clinically-proven Vitamins B1+B6+B12 (Neurobion) helps relieve nerve damage and regenerate the nerves. Through the years, Vitamins B1+B6+B12 (Neurobion) has been promoting neuropathy awareness among Filipinos. Its goal is to help Filipinos have the #NerveToServe so they can continue caring for themselves and for others.
Remember, nerve damage can be properly dealt with if you act on it immediately. Give your nerves the care that they need so that you can do the things you want to do and achieve your life goals. To do that, keep your nerves in check with Vitamins B1+B6+B12 (Neurobion) and always remember to consult your doctor.

If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
