TV host Gretchen Ho made another batch of workers happy as she gave away bicycles once more, this time on Independence Day, in Manila.
Ho distributed the bikes in a ceremony attended by Manila mayor Isko Moreno, as seen in a series of photos she posted on her Instagram page yesterday, June 12.
“What a tiring day, but definitely worth spending our #IndependenceDay this way,” she said.
Ho reported that they’ve given bicycles to “70 new riders from Manila, 30 traffic enforcers, 20 street sweepers and 20 construction workers.”
“All of them got their bikes today from my #BikeForLivelihood project with the MVP Group (@pldtsmartfoundation, @onemeralcofoundation, @mpicfoundation, First Pacific and MVP),” she added.
“Marami sa kanila ang masaya dahil makakatipid na sa pamasahe (mga 40-60 pesos araw-araw) at maiuuwi na lang ito sa pamilya. For some, this also means stability no matter what quarantine classification may come, dahil hindi na sila mahihirapang makapasok sa trabaho. Frontliners din natin sila,” Ho said.
(Many of them are happy because they can now save between P40 to P60 a day, which they can instead take home to their families. For some, this also means stability no matter what quarantine classification may come, because they will no longer find it hard to go to work. They are also our frontliners.)
Ho is grateful for the support from Manila local government units who helped set up the bike turnover in front of the Andres Bonifacio fountain, “which was really nice,” noted Ho. She also thanked volunteers, food sponsors and other non-government organizations who extended assistance. JB
