GOOD FOOD, GOOD LIFE: All about chocolate, coffee, cheese, tea, and bacon (and maybe some whisky too!) | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

When it comes to food, there is always room for innovation. What could make you raise a brow today could be your constant craving in the days to come. As much as traditional treats serve as go-to delights, a new culinary discovery reminds us of the multi-sensory joys of food.

It couldn’t be more true of the selection that popped up on our radar. Find a mix of sweets and savory picks, along with beverages that might serve as the high point of your work breaks.

Critical Baker Hello Darkness

The words that came to my mind as I let this fluffy delight melt into my mouth: sophisticated, unique, and most importantly, delicious. These marshmallows aren’t for the kids. They are whisky-infused, topped with 55 percent dark chocolate. The alcohol kick is subtle to the taste but potent. The sweetness of the sugar and the bitterness of the chocolate come together to create a palate cleanser you’ll keep in your “Gifts to Impress” arsenal.

Theo & Brom Tableyamisu A La Ragazzon

After creating the first Belgian tableya cake, Theo & Brom whipped up this tiramisu/tableya hybrid. Layers of Pistoccus di Fonni (ladyfingers) interplay with mascarpone cheese and are topped with 24k gold shavings. You can pick from two flavors: Cioccolato and Caffe. The texture is airy but hefty in taste. It probably could be saving me some calories too: a few bites satisfy your sweet tooth instantly.

Karaf Coffee in Dirty White and Dark Mocha

No one really has one cup of coffee. For a tough workday that requires multiple caffeine servings, or if you’re in a group setting that requires more than the 3-in-1 brew, why not go for coffee on tap?

Karaf brings you ready-to-serve coffee in liter boxes, so you get a cost-efficient fix. There’s no short-changing when it comes to the flavor, though. Dark Mocha is made with 1919’s 62 percent dark chocolate. It’s those who love sweetened drinks but want that mix of coffee and chocolate. My favorite is Dirty White that is espresso blended with specially crafted non-dairy milk.

Kumori Choco Lava Tarts

When you think of cheese tarts, you think Kumori. They updated their most beloved product with chocolate from Theo & Philo. That’s cream cheese and chocolate, so I’m surprised you’re still reading at this point and not on a different tab to place an order. A box of six is sold for PHP330.

Feisty Iced Tea

I’m more on team iced tea than iced coffee, TBH. But just like coffee fiends who are particular about their beans, I have only but a select few tea blends that I give the gold star to.

Local brand Feisty is all about premium, freshly-brewed tea with a calamansi kick that begs to be your companion on a hot day. There’s the right blend of bitterness and fruit sweetness. This is also the best thing to reach for when you’re in the mood for an iced tea blended cocktail.

Baken Bacon Cookies

Why eat something salty then something sweet when you can have it in one bite with Baken’s Bacon Cookies? This is what every woman needs when they get those PMS-driven cravings: chocolate chips topped with crispy bacon bits. I don’t need to say a lot after that. Or maybe I should mention how Baken also carries Real Bacon Crisps (perfect for crumbling over soups and salads), Bacon Jam, and Bacon Brittle.
