For someone new in the industry, Charlie Dizon has already accomplished so much, winning two best actress honors for her role in “Fan Girl,” one from the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival and 4th Eddys Awards.
With those accolades, Dizon has earned supporters who believe she is the next big star of ABS-CBN.
How is she taking these compliments?
“Nakakakaba, actually. Nakaka-pressure din. Pero ako kasi ay grateful sa lahat na dumadating sa akin na opportunity. I mean, ang tagal ko rin po itong hinintay,” she said during the online press conference for “My Sunset Girl,” on July 6.
(It makes me nervous, actually. I feel the pressure. But I am grateful for all the opportunities that come my way. I mean, I’ve waited so long for this.)
Dizon admits thought that if the moniker has a benefit, it is that it boosted her confidence.
“Nakakalakas ng loob kapag sinasabihan ako ng ganoon. Aaminin ko po, nakakadagdag siya sa confidence talaga. Kinakabahan po ako talaga at nape-pressure din ako. Sobrang grateful ko sa opportunities na dumadating talaga,” she said.
(It boosts my confidence when people say that to me. I admit, it strengthens my confidence. I am really nervous really and I also feel pressured. I am really extremely grateful for the opportunities that come.)
Dizon plays Ciara in the series, a character afflicted with Xeroderma pigmentosum.
“Bawal siyang maarawan dahil puwede niyang ikamatay. All her life nasa bahay lang siya kasama ‘yung parents niya until nakilala niya si Lucas sa social media at nag-iba ang buhay niya,” she shared about her role.
(She cannot be exposed to sunlight because she could die. All her life she stayed at home with her parents unitl she met Lucas [Jameson Blake] in social media and that changed her life.)
Working with Blake required no major adjustment for Dizon as they’ve previously worked together in “Four Sisters Before The Wedding” and in a “Maalaala Mo Kaya” Valentine’s Day episode.
“Ang masasabi ko po, dahil sobrang komportable na kami ni Jameson, sobrang madali na lang po ang trabaho. Ang nagustuhan ko lang po kay Jameson ay willing na willing siyang magbigay. Every night ay nag-i-script reading kami. Pina-practice din namin ‘yung mga gagawin namin, kung ano’ng atake ang gagawin namin,” she said.
(What I can say about Blake is, because we are already very comfortable with each other, work has become so easy. What I like in him is that he is so willing to give. Every night, we do a script reading. We also practice what we will do, what kind of attack on the scene we would do.)
“My Sunset Girl” will start streaming on the iWantTFC app (iOs and Android) and on iwanttfc.com starting July 14 at 8 p.m. JB
