Carla Abellana pleads for end of dog meat eating festival in South Korea

Actress and animal rights advocate Carla Abellana is urging the public to call for the end of the Boknal Festival in South Korea.

Abellana shared a video from Humane Society International which showed dogs kept in harsh conditions, experiencing pain and ultimately death due to their slaughter for Boknal Festival, as seen on her Instagram page today, July 15.

The video stated that “70% of dog meat consumed in South Korea happens over Bok Nal. The tradition is based on misguided belief that eating dog meat provides health benefits. The reality of the dog meat industry is confinement in small, filthy cages and a miserable life that ends with a brutal death.”

“It hurts to watch but it is in learning that we realize the truth, and hopefully with the knowledge of the truth we begin to care,” Abellana said.

“South Korea still holds their annual BOKNAL FESTIVAL. It must stop,” she implored. “I hope that the emojis and words you comment on my post equate to the number of signatures we raise on @hsiglobal ‘s petition (link is in their bio, please head over there now).”

She then asked fans and followers to donate to the organization to help its campaigns against the festival and other cruel acts on animals. JB
