MAKATI CITY, Philippines—The Miss Universe Philippines organization (MUPh) released the names of the 75 successful delegates who will advance to the next stage of the competition in social media posts on the pageant’s official accounts on Aug. 8.
The Top 75 delegates, chosen from a field of 100 aspirants, were determined from online challenges where fans voted on their favorite headshots and introduction videos. MUPh said judges’ scores were also taken into consideration for both competitions.
Among those who will move forward in the contest are familiar faces, composed of pageant veterans and celebrities, some of whom belong to the roster of top performers in the first two online challenges.
In an earlier announcement, when it revealed the names of the 100 delegates to this year’s competition, MUPh said the next cut to 50 will determine the qualifiers who will undergo a series of face-to-face interviews with a panel in Manila. Only 30 candidates will take part in the live coronation program, where the Philippines’ representative to the 2021 Miss Universe pageant in Israel in December will be crowned.
The most accomplished of the roster, Laguna’s Leren Mae Bautista, is among those moving on to the next round. The model from Los Baños already has two national crowns—Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific International, and Binibining Pilipinas-Globe.
She was also crowned 2015 Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International in Malaysia and finished third in the 2019 Miss Globe pageant.
Former Binibining Pilipinas-Tourism Katrina Jayne Dimaranan, who represented the United States in the 2018 Miss Supranational pageant where she finished second, is also moving on. She is representing Taguig City.
Former Mutya ng Pilipinas Janela Joy Cuaton from Albay, who finished second in the 2016 Miss Tourism Metropolitan pageant in Cambodia, is also part of the Top 25, together with fellow Mutya queen Keshapornam Ramachandran from Iloilo City.
Pangasinan’s Maureen Wroblewitz, the first “Asia’s Next Top Model” winner from the Philippines, is also moving on to the next round.
They will be joined by former Bb. Cebu Steffi Aberasturi, former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Kristen Danielle “Kisses” Delavin, and TikTok celebrity Rousanne Marie “Ayn” Bernos who were also among the top delegates in the two online challenges.
The 2021 Miss Universe Philippines coronation ceremony is scheduled on Sept. 25. Rabiya Mateo will relinquish her title.
