Agot Isidro, who plays the mother of a gay son in “Love Beneath the Stars,” does not mind having a gay son or daughter in real life.

“Okay lang sa akin (It is okay with me). I have three brothers and the two of them are gays,” Isidro said during an online conference for the series on Aug. 9.

Isidro attributed this openness to her loving and accepting parents, who embraced both her brothers when they came out gay.

“And my parents are so open and they’re like nung nag-out ang kapatid kong isa sabi ng [sa] parents ko, ‘alam naman namin ‘yan,'” Isidro recalled.

(And my parents are so open that when my brother came out as gay, one of my parents said, “We already know that.”)

“So parang (it seems that) there is no need to formally coming out, she emphasized.

Isidro herself noted that she is very open to having gay children as the actress only has lots of love for them.

“Ako, cool na cool ako diyan (I am very cool with that). I have a lot of friends from the LGBT community,” she said.

Isidro plays the mother of Adrian Lindayag’s Dominic in “Love Beneath the Stars,” which is a sequel series to the Boys’ Love (BL) movie “The Boy Foretold by the Stars.”

“Hindi naman ako kontrabida. Ako lang ‘ ‘yung nagre- represent ng closed-minded mommy. Meron silang parang hinahangad para sa kanilang anak. Para akong naging tiger mom,” Isidro explained her role in the show.

(I am not the villain here. I just represent a closed-minded mommy. They have some sort of dream for their children. It was like I became a tiger mom.)

In the series, Dominic is a gay senior high school student who develops a romantic relationship with fellow student Luke, who is played by Keann Johnson.

“Love Beneath the Stars,” written and directed by Dolly Dulu, will start streaming on Aug. 16 on iWantTFC. Isidro is joined by Nikki Valdez, Romnick Sarmenta, Victor Silayan and Iyah Mina, among others. IB
