Beauty queen Miriam Quaimbao revealed she is suffering from mastitis, a condition where there is an inflammation of the breast.
Quiambao recalled her recent experience with her condition, as can be seen in her Instagram page yesterday, Aug. 23, where she shared a photo of herself wincing in pain.
“This was me a couple of nights ago when I was suffering from mastitis and I was making Baby Ziki suck on the affected breast to drain the blocked duct,” she recalled.
“Earlier that afternoon, Elijah was snuggling against me and accidentally elbowed my breast. By early evening, my breast was engorged, warm, sore and tender and by 9pm I was starting to feel feverish,” she added.
Quiambao then texted her doctor about her condition, and she was advised to take a paracetamol and a quadruple dose of advanced omega pills to help reduce the inflammation. She said she made the mistake of getting her baby to drain her breast as it was “super painful,” making her “[wince] in pain and [tear] up at some point but it had to be done.”
“Took this photo as a reminder of that night. By God’s grace, now, I feel much better,” she said.
Quiambao told fans she has faith that “this too shall pass,” especially since she has weathered harder challenges before, may these be “spiritual, emotional, mental, financial [and] physical” difficulties. She recalled her pain from her suture post-delivery as well.
“I don’t know what challenges you are facing — whether you are a breastfeeding mom like me or if you are suffering through depression, a physical, financial, emotional or spiritual challenge,” she said. “Know that God will never give you a challenge that you cannot handle.”
Last July, Quiambao gave birth to a “miracle baby” whom she and her husband, Christian author Ardy Roberto, named Ezekial Isaiah or “Ziki.” The baby is their second, after their firstborn Elijah. JB
