Yassi Pressman has revealed that getting into boxing saved her from a dark time in her past. She took inspiration from mixed martial arts (MMA) and found the motivation to move forward.
“I remember a time where [boxing] saved me, I was trying to move on from a dark time in my life where I quit everything. Everything,” the actress said, as she showed a video of herself during training with a coach, per her Instagram page today, Sept. 19.
“But by finding this new hobby of mine, got my days exciting again, it made my sad mood swings go away because I had purpose again, purpose that pushed myself to be better than I was yesterday,” she added.
Although many challenges still came up throug the years, Pressman did not give up and used the motivation she derived from MMA to fight back her anxieties. For that, she is thankful for the sport.
“I am not pretending to be a pro, nor am I trying to be one in the future. I am just grateful for things that make me feel alive,” she said. “I salute every strong person out there who is fighting a battle that no one knows about. Keep going.”
“I hope this reminder inspires you to find something to keep your mind and body healthy. Always take care of yourselves [and] check up on your friends.” she advised.
Pressman last appeared on TV in the long-running series “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” where she played Alyana, the journalist wife of Coco Martin’s Cardo Dalisay character. She also starred in a romantic-comedy with Sam Milby, “Ang Pambansang Third Wheel” in 2018. JB
