Rica Peralejo discourages self-diagnosis of post-workout pain

Pain after every workout is natural, but celebrity mom and vlogger Rica Peralejo recommends professional help, either from a doctor, physical therapist or trainer, when one experiences severe post-workout pain.

Peralejo spoke about that type of pain in her Instagram page yesterday, Oct. 31, as she shared a short video of her exercise routine to strengthen the ankle and calf.

“Pain after any workout can be caused by many things,” she said.

“And because we are all unique, we will have different reasons why,” she added. “My advice is to observe the pain and talk to someone knowledgeable about it.”

Peralejo cited several situations where pain may be present after a workout. There may be natural soreness because one’s muscles worked hard. There can be a sudden increase of activity that the body is not used to.

Another thing that brings about pain is not knowing how to prepare the  muscles well for a movement and also how to cool down and rest after a workout. Wrong equipment also can cause pain, and even one’s environment. There is also one’s wrong form being a factor, when the core is not engaged, the arms are weak, and one’s landing is not optimal.

Finally, she stressed that the body needs enough conditioning, “because for whatever reason, genetics or previous injuries/conditions, your bones, muscles, tendons, [may] not yet [be] ready for the intensity of the workout.

Peralejo also discouraged fellow fitness enthusiasts from doing a self-diagnosis.

”[Better] to talk to people who know the body and how it works very well!” she advised.

Peralejo is known to incorporate jumping rope and yoga in her fitness regimen. JB
