The hashtag #nadineismypresident made it clear. We need Nadine Lustre, and she knows it. She’s delivering to her fanbase as the first Filipino celebrity to offer audio NFTs (non-fungible tokens) for “Wait For Me.”
Lustre has minted 1,031 copies of her latest single. As of press time, each NFT costs $28.86. “Wait for Me” is described as a song where Lustre is “…letting go of her inhibitions to face her emotions and realizations head-on. This track cuts through the ambiguous as it directly tackles the real-life experience of separating from a lover and introspects on what it means to forge her own path.”
The NFT release comes shortly after the official MV drop last Oct. 30.
The NFTs are available via ENTER.AUDIO, the music arm of ENTER.ART. “The entry of ENTER.AUDIO in The Philippines democratizes the creation of art and music by helping thousands of Filipinos to earn by either investing or creating on the NFT platform,” states the press release.
ENTER. AUDIO provides a space for upcoming and established musicians to segue into minting and selling audio NFTs where they can opt to have as much as 20 percent in royalties on all future resales of their music. The multi-minting feature also allows you to mint 20,000 editions of your NFT in a straightforward transaction. Royalty splitting ensures transparency in collaborations with fellow artists and charities.
What is an NFT?
Non-fungible tokens or NFTs are the hottest commodities in the cryptocurrency market. This technology allows people to trade intangible fragments of the Internet as if they were physical objects. NFTs transform digital collectibles with items stamped with a unique bit of code that serves as a permanent record of its authenticity. These are stored on a blockchain, the distributed ledger system that underlies Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
NFTs also allow digital collectibles to be bought and sold like trading cards. Once a token is created, it can’t be deleted or counterfeited, thanks to blockchain technology. This makes it useful for artists and musicians to create limited edition digital creations and trade them over a safe and secure network.
The blockchain technology of NFT also makes it possible to stamp digital goods with a cryptographic marker of authenticity and keep a permanent record of its ownership. People can duplicate the file contained in an NFT all they want, but they will not be able to fake the digital signature behind it. This gives collectors of rare digital goods some peace of mind because the NFT technology could also be used to keep track of all kinds of goods in the future.
