Fashion students have launched “Suits,” a digital 13-piece collection which pays tribute to the flight attendants, ground crew and their colleagues, who have sacrificed their lives to reconnect the world, bring about human mobility, as well as the crucial transportation of essential goods amid the pandemic.

The Fashion Design and Merchandising team of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde School of Design and Arts sought sustainable, environmental-friendly solutions with less carbon footprint.

Featuring stylish aviation uniforms tailored fit as personal protective equipment, the group utilized the latest 3D software for fabric selection, pattern-making, digital sewing and prototyping to reduce the need for sample clothing before the actual production.

The concepts and designs were created by students Lia Nunez, Zoie Garcia, Vilrick Cruz, Jazmin Tan, AJ Cruz, Sean Castillo and Sophia Concordia under the class of Nicole Luna.

Sophia Isabel Tempongko, Jasia Valencia, Andrea Roque, Gabriel Sarmiento and ShaSha Chong focused on the 3D garment prototyping and visualization under the guidance of designer Roxoanne Bagano Dizon and fellow faculty members Zak Gonzaga and AJ Tungpalan, with alumni Miguel Balingit and Leandro Tan.

“Suits” was unveiled at the “Reimagining Fashion: Building a New Generation of Purposive Fashion of Prologue 2021,” the preculminating activity of the college’s graduating batch. It was launched alongside a preview of some of the best textile design, clothing construction, draping design and merch works by Benildean student-artists.
