Singer Jimi Marquez could only be thankful to actress Iza Calzado for inviting him to spend Christmas with her and her husband Ben Wintle.
Marquez expressed his gratitude in an Instagram post yesterday, Dec. 27, where he shared photos and videos of how their Christmas celebration went.
“When @missizacalzado learned that I canceled my flight due to the aftermath of the super typhoon [Odette] in Cebu, she and husband @benmwintle straightaway invited me to spend Christmas Day with them,” Marquez said.
Marquez was emotional the past week as typhoon Odette wreaked havoc in Cebu, his native place.
“Not hearing from my family for [six] days weighed heavy on my heart that I caught myself crying in random places — at the grocery, while standing in line at shops, halfway through a meal, etc. It was a torture,” he said.
And then came his “Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin” co-star’s invite which somehow eased the pain he was feeling.
“But Iza reaching out, constantly checking up on me helped me get through the unpleasant ordeal. And their invite somehow made me look forward to celebrating Christmas,” Marquez said. And celebrate they did.
As per Marquez’s story, they had a “sumptuous late lunch, played games, laughed so hard, walked the dogs and watched a brilliant film.”
“And I finally got news that my family is okay. What a wonderful Yuletide gift!” he said. “A festive Christmas day indeed. Thank you so much, Izadora and Ben.” JB
