Britney Spears is ready to avenge herself in new song teaser

Britney Spears is planning her comeback—and her family better prepare themselves.

In a video posted on Instagram today, Dec. 23, Spears teased fans with new music and showed off her vocal chops when she delivered these, to say the least, interesting the lyrics, “I just want you to know just what I—” Just what she what exactly? Well, we’ll have to wait to find out.

This year marked Spears’s win in the battle to regain control over her own life. Her father Jamie Spears announced that he intended to step down as her conservator and filed a petition on Sept. 8 to end her harrowing 13-year-old conservatorship. Although she’s happier now and happily engaged, she’s not done with giving her family a piece of her mind. Speak your truth, queen!

“I just realized this today guys…after what my family tried to do to me three years ago…I needed to be my own cheerleader 🤷🏼‍♀️ !!!!” the singer wrote in the caption of her post. “I’m here to remind my white ‘classy’ family that I haven’t forgotten what they did to me nor will I ever forget!!!!⁣ Pssss new song in the works … I’m gonna let you know what I mean 😉 !!!!!” She also included quotes from her RCA Records artist bio detailing her achievements as a multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning pop icon.

Those used to Spears’s signature nasal-sounding voice may find it surprising to hear her belt. Could this mean that we’re about to enter a new era where she’ll be utilizing her full range? And not to be too optimistic, but could a collaboration with Christina Aguilera be possible considering the direction Spears seems to be taking? Or hey, maybe another track with long-time supporter Miley Cyrus who left the sweet comment, “#vocalbible 💒”

Whatever Spears has in store for us is bound to be personal. “It’s Britney, b*tch” has a whole ’nother layer to it now. The Spears family is about to hear our queen’s version of Amor Powers’s “Matitikman ninyo ang batas ng isang api!”
