Fighting the old and building the new

“Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow is but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope.” —Kalidasa

Welcome 2022 with the loudest bang of hope, love and happiness!

As we focus our renewed energy on fighting the old and building the new, we embrace change to grow, evolve and progress. This rejuvenation happens when we are fully open to taking that leap of faith and rediscovering ourselves.

With its share of turmoil and uncertainty, 2021 was a tough year and we have to congratulate ourselves for surviving. With the hope of a better future, 2022 brings a genuine desire to truly live again, without dreading diseases, conflicts and financial instability.

As long as we are alive, it’s never too late to become who we want to be.

We have the capacity to live a life we are proud of. If that life is not, I hope you have the strength to start over.

By believing in all the possibilities out there, we choose to live a happy and fulfilled life even amid difficulties. Past mistakes are life lessons that push us to change and gain wisdom of our true self. This time of the year offers an exciting opportunity for a fresh start and new beginnings.

As we celebrate all our past experiences from 2021 (#pandemiclife), we welcome 2022 acknowledging all the physical, mental and spiritual wisdom we have gained in the past year.

Positive pattern of people

As I do my year in review, I see a positive pattern of people, teachers, places, insights and circumstances that seemed to have appeared in my life at the moment when I really needed them.

It’s uncanny how this has happened to me so frequently. Was there a divine hand at work here or did I unknowingly manifest the help that I needed? I do believe it is a little of both! I do understand my divine source, but I know less about the power of manifestation, so I’ve decided to learn more about this!

Manifestation is “the act or process of taking something hoped for and bringing it to life. In other words, manifestation is the art of bringing a dream or goal into a state of being real” according to clinical phycologist and positive psychology expert Carla Manly. It is not as simple though as wanting something and hoping it will come rather it is a focused, intentional, and disciplined approach to making your dreams come true.

Quoting from Kimberly Zapata’s article on OprahDaily.com, here are some simple steps to start manifesting:

1. Be clear about your goals. Know exactly what you want. Know it and own it. Make your intention as specific as possible. The clearer and more concise, the better.

2. Once you’ve set your intention, ask for what you want—and write it down. Ask the universe for what you want through prayer, meditation and visualization. Create a vision board using photos and words.

3. Be mindful of—and thankful for—what you receive. While you may not get everything you envision in the order and time frame you want, you should receive and acknowledge what you do get—no matter how big or small it may be. A gratitude journal is helpful.

4. Let go of any resistance and limiting beliefs. Change your mindset and behaviors and remove any obstacles or limiting beliefs.

5. Be flexible—and trust the process. The process is fluid. The steps you take do not matter as much as your belief, so “trust your actions.” Faith is a powerful motivator and guiding force.

Big dreams and goals

I have big dreams and goals for 2022! I choose to manifest love, health and happiness.

For the love section, I will leave that to the divine romantic stars.

There was quite a bit of love at the wedding of Vincent Julian Villanueva Veluz and Aira Racela Veluz. It was a romantic affair to remember. From the ceremony at the baroque-style Minor Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel (located at the historic city of Tayabas, Quezon province) to the blossom-filled reception at Queen Margarette Hotel (Lucena City), the celebration of love was magical. It was a night of sumptuous food, overflowing booze, and a romantic musical-filled evening thanks to the orchestra led by Merjohn Lagaya, one of the Philippines’ master violinists.

The couple were childhood acquaintances who started a relationship in 2012. They broke up a year after but destiny led them back to each other’s lives in 2017 and love is absolutely sweeter the second time around.

The Veluz family owns Buddy’s, which has been in the food business for 36 years, with 18 branches located in Quezon, Laguna, and of course, across the Metro. It has been the pride of Lucban, Quezon, because of its Pahiyas Festival-themed interiors and the ever popular pansit Lucban and longganisang Lucban.

It was nice to reconnect with Philippine National Police chief Dionardo Carlos who was one of the sponsors. Quick fact: back in Nov. 24, 2016, I had the pleasure of being the guest of honor during the opening of Buddy’s’ 15th branch located at Venice Grand Canal Mall where we both cut the ribbon.
