Broadcast journalist Bernadette Sembrano-Aguinaldo has gained so many lessons from her experiences with COVID-19 that she also found some learnings even as she tested negative recently.
Sembrano enumerated her realizations in her Instagram page yesterday, Jan. 11, where she shared a photo and videos of her trip to a deserted park with her pet Uni.
One thing she realized is that “tests are not always reliable (depends on how samples are taken and even timing when it was taken ).” She thinks a negative test can sometimes give “a false sense of security.”
She believes that one has to refrain from taking indoor options even when vaccinated already.
“Avoid indoors – may dahilan eksperto para diyan (Experts have a reason for that). Just do it,” she stressed.
She also reminded people to still wear masks and practice social distancing.
But aside from these protocols, she believes that to be at peace, everyone should stop blaming one another. She thinks blame is pointless and “can only create friction,” and that people just better support each other and learn from experience.
“You can have no symptoms or honestly overlook it! And sa panahon ngayon (in these times now) – you also don’t know if you are imagining it,” she added.
Sembrano said one should not be in denial especially if one has become neglectful and possibly infected someone.
“You can say sorry, too, kahit hindi mo ginusto (even if you didn’t intend it). Maappreciate din yan ng nahawaan mo (It will be appreciated by those you infected),” she said.
The news anchor advised fans to have an “RT PCR test on the 5th day to help Contact trace where you got it.”
“And kahit (even) NEGATIVE RT PCR… MUST quarantine until the 7th because symptoms can still appear,” she added. “Operate on malasakit (concern). You protect yourself to protect others.” JB
