Bernadette Sembrano salutes her neighbors who give her home-cooked meals

TV news anchor Bernadette Sembrano-Aguinaldo recently had new realizations about home-cooking which changed her preconceived notions about food.

Sembrano shared her food journey amid the pandemic through her Instragram page yesterday, Jan. 25, where she showed a cookbook, herself and friends while dining, and ingredients for sukiyaki.

“This pandemic got me stuffed with manna from our neighbors! My FOODIE neighbors. For months now I’ve been receiving regular soup, ulam and fresh juice and fruits and tinapay na ANG SARAP (and bread that is delicious),” she said.

What makes the food she receives even more special is that they are all home-cooked. She also pointed out to her husband how juice given by her neighbors are in big servings, unlike those bought from outside which are “super expensive.” Her taste buds leveled up, she said, and she thus became a “believer that you can create great-tasting meals at home.”

“Maling maling mali pala ang (It’s so wrong the) notion that if you want to eat good food — you eat OUT! You can make it,” she added.

She also talked about cooking sukiyaki for her husband with the help of the Nora Daza cookbook given to her. She expressed how happy she was because her husband was pleased with the meal, and celebrated her newfound confidence as a home cook. JB
