Now’s a good time to celebrate. 19-year-old Cebu-based skateboarder Margielyn Didal has wheeled her way to TIME‘s annual list of “25 Most Influential Teens”, making her the sole Filipino in the pool of early achievers. The staff handpicked young bloods around the world across a myriad of fields, then determined their “global impact through social media and overall ability to drive news.”

Aside from being the first representative of the Philippines in the X Games in Minneapolis, and winning gold in the women’s street skateboarding competition of the Asian games, Didal is also known for being a brave dreamer, eager to defy all odds to pursue her passion. In an interview with TIME, Margielyn shared, “We didn’t even have a street skating park where I grew up.” Aside from this, she went through her first competitions without her own skateboard.
TIME’s “25 Most Influential Teens of 2018” list also includes Millie Bobbie Brown, Korean boy group NCT Dream, Amika George, Billie Eilish, among others.
