The power of red

Christian Louboutin Hot Chick

In most cultures, red symbolizes prosperity and happiness. In fashion, I believe red always implies power and confidence.

It is surely seen in a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes. The label is forever entrenched in pop culture for its red-bottom heels. It was a happy accident that brought about the red soles: Louboutin spotted an assistant using red nail polish while he was trying to amend a shoe design that didn’t go as planned. He then expounded on the mythology on how red is a color that has sensual and sexual implications.

For Valentine’s Day, Louboutin offers a selection for men and women that includes Hot Chick. It has the iconic Maison Christian Louboutin silhouette “and is distinguished by a generous décolleté enhanced by the pointed toe and V-shaped notches.” The illustrations on the shoes are made exclusively by artist Doctor Bored.

Also for men, there is the Louis Junior Spikes Orlato low-top sneaker. Combining fine details with the world of basketball, these shoes are elegant and sporty.

Iconic

When it comes to lipstick, a lot of red shades are celebrated as iconic. One of my favorites is Dragon Girl from NARS. The shade comes in different formulations. The more classic selection would be the easy comfort of the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil. A few swipes leave a pigmented finish.

You may also opt to get the shade in NARS’ Powermatte Lip Pigment. This liquid lipstick allows for long-lasting wear that requires minimal retouch throughout the day. On the other hand, the Air Matte Lip Color offers a weightless formula.

When it comes to nail polish, my go-to is Chanel Le Vernis. There’s Pirate, the classic red that is unmistakably Chanel. For something more festive, there’s Vamp, which is a burgundy red with hints of silver shimmer.

You can also opt for Rouge Puissant, French for “powerful red.” The color of this nail polish shifts with the light, making it versatile for various occasions.

Gitane is more for a summer feel, while Rouge Noir embodies Chanel’s sophisticated spirit as a deep red and purple tone. INQ
