Angelica Panganiban on the supposed complexities of leaving a relationship: Leaving is leaving

For actress Angelica Panganiban, leaving someone or being left behind bears the same impact whenever a relationship fails.

Panganiban spoke about her thoughts on the complexities of walking away from a relationship during the online press conference for the miniseries “The Goodbye Girl,” last Jan. 31.

(It’s more painful of course when you’re the one left behind because you’re not ready for that. Because if you’re the one leaving, you know what you’re doing. You will leave the person because you know you can leave. It’s a different feeling too if you left someone, if you need to leave a relationship because it is already toxic.)

But impact-wise, Panganiban believes every kind of departure from a relationship brings the same intense pain.

(It has the same impact even if you are the one who left, there’s no happy or easy way to do that. Leaving is leaving.)

When asked for an advice after a break-up, Panganiban had this to say: “Actually, mahirap na role na hinihingan ka ng advice pagdating sa pagmo-move on or tungkol lang sa buhay. Sino ba talaga?”

(Actually, it is hard when you are asked to give advice about moving on, or advice about life. Because who’s the expert among us? Who, really?)

She confesses that she herself may need advice too, such as advice on how to live happily and without suffering.

Panganiban then offered a plain advice: “Just be a friend and be a friend to yourself.”

“Feeling ko, ‘yung life, kailangan mo lang matuto. So, ‘yun ang best advice. Choice mo lang ‘yan in life,” she added.

(I feel that in life, you just really need to learn. So, that’s the best advice. You learn. You will be the one who can fix things, you’re the one who knows the answer. That’s your choice in life.)

Produced by Dreamscape Entertainment and Clever Minds Inc., “The Goodbye Girl” streams on Feb. 14, with a new episode dropping daily on the iWantTFC app (iOs and Android) and website (iwanttfc.com). JB
