Doing good deeds, TV host Amy Perez believes, won’t need acceptance or recognition from others if the act is rooted from Christ.

Perez spoke about people’s different motivations in doing good in her Instagram post today, Feb. 22, where she shared a verse on Philippians 2:13 that says, “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

“The good works we do are the evidence that our faith is alive, according to James 2:14-26. Therefore, good deeds are a vital aspect of our lives as believers,” she said. “The average person living in biblical times would have considered the Pharisees exemplary in their righteous living. However, the Pharisees were also known for making a show of their good deeds.”

For Perez, God must be the central reason why people should do acts of kindness.

“Today’s exhortation from Jesus reaches the level of our hearts, testing our motivations for why we perform acts of kindness. We won‘t need to seek acceptance from others if we know our righteousness is rooted in Christ,” she explained.

“We find in Philippians 2:12-13 that it is God who is working in us to give us the motivation and strength to do good,” she added. “Because of God’s grace toward us, our deeds become a spontaneous outpouring of praise to the Lord.”

Perez is known to her fans as an enthusiastic Christian who often shares her reflections on faith via social media. JB
