Amy Perez explains how the Bible’s Martha and her distractions reflect our own

TV host and actress Amy Perez believes that the most important part of living is to focus one’s attention on the Almighty.

Perez underscored the relevance of putting God at the center of one’s life in her Instagram post yesterday, March 6, where she shared a Bible phrase from Luke 10:41-42: “The Lord answered, ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things. One thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the better part of it. It won’t be taken away from her.'”

“We’re all guilty of allowing the world’s endless problems and responsibilities to divert our attention away from our actual purpose. We were created to spend time with our Creator, to love and worship him,” Perez said.

She pointed out that any issue that pulls one away from God as the only source of strength and peace “must be kept in check, or else we jeopardize trading our souls for temporary accomplishments.”

“Our ultimate goal is Christ, and all else follows after,” she stressed. “To keep from becoming ensnared in the myriad of pressing matters that beat against us daily and vie for every waking moment, we must prioritize our relationship with our Lord first. Sit with him daily. Soak in his words and his love. Let all be done out of gratitude for him and desire him above all else. He is your ‘one thing’ needed.”

Lastly, Perez shared a prayer which asks for assistance on the heavy pressures of life, for God to “restore the strength of the faithful.” JB
