A rich and resplendent selection of European and Filipino pieces makes Primero, Casa de Memoria’s first auction for 2022, a delight for the connoisseur. Set for auction are 222 lots that imbue a time sense for history, from unique ivory work boxes, a rare Tabuena sketch book, and a unique maquette filled dresser. Set for April 30, the Lhuillier-managed auction house vernissage begins on April 7 for viewing.
“As we come back to doing the things we love, like going to exhibits and the theater, we at The Casa put together a selection of what we are known for, European and Spanish pieces that make a difference in one’s home. For the last two years we have been homebound, and now you have the opportunity to attend an auction, have a lunch at our restaurant and tour our grounds,” notes Camille Lhuillier-Albani, General Manager of Casa de Memoria.
Miguel Rosales, Casa de Memoria’s curator, selected key pieces for the opening auction at the house. A sampling of 222 pieces shows the intricacy and intensity of design from the periods they were resident, some over 200 years old.
The collection itself is museum quality and easily obtainable. Each piece will be a highlight in the home. “We see ourselves as caretakers of history, and our auctions provide new residencies for these pieces. This auction comes at a time as we continue to celebrate 500 years of the arrival of Spain, making the Philippines the trading hub from Asia to Europe,” adds Albani.
Casa de Memoria’s preview is at the storied Palacio de Memoria, built during the Commonwealth Period, the once sea side estate that survived the carpet bombing of Manila. A visit to the Palacio itself is filled with history.
Join the Casa de Memoria’s cocktails on April 21, Thursday, starting at 6pm, and its live auction on April 30, Saturday, 2pm. Casa de Memoria is the auction house of Palacio de Memoria, located along Roxas Boulevard in Parañaque City.
