MANILA, Philippines—The next Miss Universe Philippines titleholder may be the third queen to be crowned by the national pageant organization, but she will still hold a distinction all her own — being the bearer of a new crown that will symbolize her reign.

In partnership with international luxury jewelry brand Jewelmer, the Miss Universe Philippines came up with a new crown inspired by the sea called “La Mer En Majesté,” or the sea of majesty. It was unveiled during “The Ultimate Reigns” fashion gala held at the Hilton Manila Ballroom at the Resorts World Manila complex in Pasay City on April 19.

Miss Universe Philippines National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee and reigning queen Beatrice Luigi Gomez led the crown’s unveiling, together with Jewelmer executives, at the culmination of the program where the 32 delegates vying for the title this year were featured in a fashion show for several of the pageant’s sponsors.

The organization said its jewelry partner envisioned the crown “as an homage to her majesty, the sea, for she is the queen of the elements.” The sea provides people with pearls, including the highly precious golden South Sea pearls Jewelmer is known for.

The next Miss Universe Philippines titleholder will be proclaimed at the coronation night which will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on April 30. Filipino rock star Bamboo is set to perform, along with R&B singer Arthur Nery, singer-actor Sam Concepcion, and “American Idol” grand finalist Francisco Martin.

Miss Universe winners Pia Wurtzbach from the Philippines, Iris Mittenaere from France, and Demi-Leigh Tebow from South Africa will host the ceremonies, with reigning Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu from India as one of the judges.
