Officine Universelle Buly’s Manila flagship: a portal to a beauty heritage

The following story was published on Inquirer RED’s April 2022 issue and has been edited for length and clarity.

Officine Universelle Buly finds a home in Manila, bringing with it the tradition of true French perfumery.

Each item in their catalog, from body care to home scents, and from oral care to perfumes, offers a unique sensory experience perfected through time and innovation. Co-founders Victoire de Taillac and Ramdane Touhami carry the legacy of Jean-Vincent Bully.

The perfumer opened his first boutique in 1803 and became famous for his Vinegar de Toilette. As with most French craft masters, Bully also tied in with literature being the inspiration for  César Birotteau’s character in Balzac’s Comedie Humaine

Tying the narrative of Officine Universelle Buly is always a respect for authentic formulas that are free of harmful chemicals and are only made of the best ingredients. This empowers a philosophy that universal beauty secrets only have longevity due to their timeless relevance.

In 2014, Officine Universelle Buly opened shop at 6 rue Bonaparte in the 6th arrondissement. This address is a veritable bastion against the disappearance of the world’s beauty heritage and a dispensary offering legendary products, gathered from history and travel.

Buly promotes an approach to beauty that is personal, intimate, and bespoke.
