Fresh from the Feed: Fruteria, Polaris Fine Foods, and The Bow Tie Duck

The following story was published on Inquirer RED’s April 2022 issue and has been edited for length and clarity.

Now, it takes a tap on your smartphone to order up fares from France, the freshest sushi, and the favored fruits on the season

The Bow Tie Duck

Rebooted in 2019, The Bow Tie Duck offers a selection of over 1,500 products. All of which are chosen with a passion for hard-to-find delicacies and five-star food. Their best-sellers include Echiré and Bordier butter. On top of this is a wide array of caviars, our variety of lobsters, and fresh French oysters.

Raizza Encinas, COO of The Bow Tie Duck shares, “The Bow Tie Duck is more than just an e-commerce platform. We don’t just sell quality foods. That was never just the drive. The drive is our responsibility to make stories of products known.”

Fruteria

As with most businesses in the pandemic, Fruteria started through Viber. The community eventually found a loyal customer base with a shared understanding.

Owner Pamela Yu-Chua says, “Fruits are a great source of essential nutrients that our bodies need on a daily basis.”

Opening a box of Fruteria easily transports you to a summer destination and endless fields of produce. Unique to their offerings are California oranges and grapes picked from Australia and seasonal fruit like Spanish Cherimoyas. One can also anticipate customized boxes for different occasions like the Lunar New Year and Christmas.

There is always a certain sweetness to every Fruteria box, on top of the sentiment and the freshest picks. @fruteria.ph

Polaris Fine Foods

Polaris Fine Foods offers a constellation of uniquely crafted sushi creations, among many other dishes that will be the star of any feast.

In their Temari Balls, Acrylic Boxes, and Fuku Platters, you will find Instagram-worthy delights made from air-flown bluefin tuna, salmon, and yellowtail, and A5 wagyu from Japan.

With every dish, there is a sense of discovery. “Our creations are expressions of what we experienced from travels, the zeitgeist. The notion of visual poetry and of course, social media,” says Kim de Guzman – Lim of Polaris Fine Foods.

The aforementioned spirit fuels constantly new items on the menu. For March, they introduce the Niji Box, made of only the freshest fish, presented so neatly and almost like an artwork, you’ll hesitate to take a bite before snapping a photo.
