Katrina Dovey sees going sexy in film as a form of art

For newcomer Katrina Dovey, there is no harm in doing sexy roles because she sees it as a form of art. She also believes that such roles should not be seen through a prurient lens.

“Para sa akin kasi (for me), we were born naked, so I don’t understand kung bakit may malisya ‘yung paghuhubad (why there’s malice in going nude) and in seeing naked bodies. At the end of the day, alam ko naman po na (I know that) it’s art we’re creating,” she said candidly during the online press conference for the movie “Doblado,” earlier today, May 5.

Initially, Dovey decision to take sexy roles did not get the green light from her mother, but eventually, mom became supportive.

“[The] only person that went against [it] was my mom. Siyempre, noong una ay medyo alanganin pa siya (Of course, at first, she was hesitant). She does not want me to do sexy roles,” she recalled. “But at the end of the day, [my mom still is] super supportive. Now she is all out in supporting me.”

As for her portrayal, there is one scene in the movie which Dovey found very difficult to execute and it was done in a bath tub where she was immersed.

“The corn syrup was getting into my nose. Ang ganda ng kinalabasan (It turned out to be very beautiful). It looks very artistic and I am very proud of that scene,” she said.

“Doblado” also stars Stephanie Raz, Mark Anthony Fernandez and Gwen Garci. It will start streaming on Vivamax tomorrow, May 6. JB
