BROOKE Shields and her equally famous eyebrows

My friend draws her brows as soon as she wakes up in the morning. She has been thinking of having eyebrow implants done but her doctor said she has to be 101 percent ready for it.

Aside from it being costly, sometimes the hair that grows comes out kinky and still not like how natural brow hair grows. In other words, she better stick to drawing her brows every day.

The eyebrow frames the eyes, and most women need some help when it comes to the brows. Here are some common problems and easy solutions:

Stray hair—A clean arch is what we all want, but for those who have it, good, but the only real dilemma is stray hair. The fastest way to get them out is by using a brow shaver, but I would not recommend this fast solution since one may end up with stubbles as regrowth. Also the hair gets thicker and it grows fast, too.

Plucking can be a good option, but the best solution is having threading done. For one the aesthetician can even help shape your brows and the result is cleaner. It takes getting used to and you may maintain the shape by plucking regrowth. Best to have it done for maintenance.

Bushy brows—This is characterized by thick long brows that are shapeless. Use a toothbrush to comb your hair up. Use brow-trimming scissors and cut hair that extends above your natural brow line. Then use  sharp-angled tweezers to pluck stray hair under the arch. If you find tweezing painful, you may press ice onto the area you will be plucking for five seconds before tweezing. If irritation or redness occurs, apply honey to calm skin.

Overplucked brows— There was a time thin brows were in, but nowadays thick full brows are back with a vengeance and the thin-brow look is now considered overplucked. To fix this, you’ll have to fill those brows. Choose a color that matches your hair (one shade lighter would work, too) which will act like a shadow. A taupe shade works best on almost everybody. Short light strokes are the best regardless of what kind of product you choose.

A brow brush should be your best friend. This will soften the appearance and will allow you to add on its thickness without making it look harsh and drawn. Stay away from the tweezers as much as you can and allow your hair to grow. Be patient in filling in those holes and remember your hair will grow back in a couple of week; once fuller, the hair will be easier to shape.

For those with spare and nearly no brows. This was the problem of my friend. And honestly the reason why I am now writing this article. A friend asked her if she would do semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo (apparently it’s supposed to last two years) and since she was desperate, she gave it a chance. After the procedure she nervously called me to check it out and I was pleasantly surprised with the result. She looked like she had real brows since they did it in such a way that they drew in strands of hair.
