Miaou and Paloma Elsesser join forces for new size-inclusive collection

Los Angeles-bred, New York-based brand Miaou is launching its very first size-inclusive collection, enlisting none other than supermodel Paloma Elsesser for the campaign. Elsesser is also the co-designer of the 54-piece capsule, offering a wide variety of sizes from XS to 4XL.

Best known for their grommet-studded pants and finely tailored corsets, the 6-year-old brand enjoyed astounding growth during the pandemic, crediting their cult-favorite matching sets for their success.

Miaou had been eyeing the launch of a size-inclusive range since the brand’s infancy. In an exclusive with BOF, founder & CEO Alexia Elkaim shared, “I wish that there were more sizes that we made, but it’s expensive and we couldn’t. That was the language that we were constantly using: We’re working on it, we’re working on it.”

Prior to the launch of their capsule, Elkaim named Elsesser as her “muse.” They were the best of friends since 10th grade. In an interview with bazaar.com, the CEO recalled what it was like when she finally approached her best friend for the collaboration, sharing, “I should say that it was this ‘Oh, my God’ crazy moment, but because we’re so close and we’ve grown up together…it felt obvious. It wasn’t a spike of emotion or ping of anxiety. It was more of a realization and understanding that this would be organic,”

Influenced by Baroque, Abstract imagery, Mudd, Sweet Legend, and Marseilles Stripes, the line showcases a diverse range of cut-out silhouettes, electric patterned micro-mini skirts, neon mesh pieces, and just a touch of snakeskin. Although the collection marks this as Miaou’s first foray into the inclusive fitting, the brand is only getting started. “We’ve held off on this to make it right and do it the right way,” Elkaim says. “ There’s more work that can be done, there’s more sizes we want to reach. It definitely wasn’t easy, and it had to happen at the right time, but it’s possible, and it’s important.”

Miaou x Paloma Elsesser Collection is now available for purchase on their website and ranges from $95-$395.
