Kate Moss is set to take the stand in Johnny Depp’s defamation trial versus Amber Heard this coming Wednesday. The former supermodel who shared a relationship with Depp from 1994 to 1997, will be testifying via live video link.
A few weeks ago, Johnny Depp’s legal team were seen fist-bumping each other when Heard brought up Kate Moss’ name while she was on the stand. In her testimony, Heard referenced Moss while recounting an argument she and Depp had, that her sister, Whit Heard, tried to mediate.
“She threw herself in the line of fire,” Heard said as she spoke of her sister. “She was trying to get Johnny to stop. Her back was to the staircase, and Johnny swings at her. I don’t hesitate and wait — I instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs.”
In a report by The Post, legal experts explained that Heard mentioning Moss on the stand could give her ex-husband’s team the chance to dispel a rumor that he pushed the supermodel down a flight of stairs when the two dated in the 1990s.
Throughout the entirety of their relationship, both Depp and Moss spoke very little of their time together, even after they had parted ways. In a 2012 interview with Vanity Fair, the model shared, “There’s nobody that’s ever really been able to take care of me. Johnny did for a bit. I believed what he said. Like if I said, ‘What do I do?’ he’d tell me. And that’s what I missed when I left. I really lost that gauge of somebody I could trust.”
Sources close to the former couple say that they have both been supportive of each other throughout the years.
Moss will testify on the third day of the final week of the trial. Experts say she will play a crucial role in determining the verdict. Although she was not originally expected to take the stand as the longstanding rumor was not related to the case, Heard’s mention of her paved the way for Depp’s legal team to bring her in as a witness.
