Collaborations between fashion houses have defined the last few seasons. With projects like No Sesso x Levi’s and Margiela for H&M being released in June alone (an addition to H&M’s arsenal of high fashion partnerships), we can see this trend being taken all around the block this year. It’s a wonderful reminder of the interconnectedness of the fashion community, and one we’re expecting to see more Filipino designers, brands, and craftsmen lean into.
One such collection we can look forward to is local clothing brand Plains & Prints launching their tie-up with fashion designer Rosanna Ocampo, just in time for the brand’s 27th anniversary.
A function and fashion-forward concoction of classic tropes, playful motifs, and textures that play off each other is what makes the colorful selection of pieces. As a whole, it transports you to seaside villas at sunset, warm breezes on cobblestoned streets, and other fond recollections of travel. Ocampo confirms this message in an Instagram post ringing in the launch:
“Movement and travel have always been the essence of our pieces. We wish to transport you to a moment, a time, a memory. Make you remember a song, a hug or deep connection to someone, someplace, or something.”
Ocampo in her own statements confides that her works are always about travel, and this was not left behind when putting heads together with ready-to-wear apparel brand Plains & Prints. Together, both creative entities work to build the closet of a modern woman, one embodied by designer Ocampo herself, who shines among other appointed muses of the collection (including long-time Plains & Prints muse, Anne Curtis-Smith).
Every piece is equal parts stylish and functional, with sweet feminine styles that play with the fun prints and textures Ocampo supplies. Raising a toast to the empowered Filipina and healing memories of travel, the collection shows a beautiful rapport between the two fashion collaborators. Here’s to more Filipino stories being shared through fashion!
