Broadcaster Korina Sanchez seemingly cannot live without her trusted staff who has been with her for years, so much so that she asked him to return after going back to his hometown.

Sanchez’s staff Ronilo was already considering to stay for good in Negros, as per her Instagram page last Friday, July 15, where she shared a photo of herself and her children Pepe and Pilar, with Ronilo.

“From my Day One in our family home in Cubao, it has always been our efficient and reliable help Ronilo who is my go-to,” she said, describing Ronilo as “mild mannered, respectful and always smiling.”

“He saw too many of my ups and downs as a professional, a political wife, an in-law and now a mom to twins,” she said.

Sanchez shared that Ronilo is a confidant, and that his wife Emely is the only one who can prepare her favorite salted egg prawns per her liking. She also saw the couple have two children over the years.

“Ewan ko ba itong pandemic ang epekto sa marami biglang gustong umuwi o mag retire o mag-iba ng buhay,” she said. (I don’t know about this pandemic, its effect on many people is either to go home or retire or change their lives.)

Fortunately, Sanchez was able to convince Ronilo to come back after he would stay three months in the province.

“Babalik daw sya. Sabi ko sa kanya hindi ko kaya na wala sya sa paningin ko,” Sanchez said. (He said he will return. I told him I could not manage without him at my sight.)

“You know that feeling of comfort knowing there’s someone home you can rely on to be there?” she asked.

Even her children Pepe and Pilar asked Ronilo not to go home for good, saying, “Dili ka muna mapuli sa Negros Lolo Nilo.” (Don’t go home to Negros yet, Lolo Nilo). Sanchez saw Ronilo shed a tear with a smile, then promised the kids, “Oo babalik ako.” (Yes, I will be back.) JB
