Why Ritz Azul stayed away from social media: To avoid bad news, to be in the present

Actress Ritz Azul was apologetic when she finally explained to fans the reason for her inactivity in social media.

“Ito ang dahilan kaya ako inactive sa social media,” she initially said via her Instagram page today, July 27, where she shared a video showing her doing pottery.

While she felt bad that she was not able to communicate to her Instagram followers, she recognizes that it is for a good reason. Azul said that since the pandemic started, she has come to realize many things.

“Madami ring nababasang bad news and negative vibes na halos lahat sa social media at tv makikita. Pag yun ang laging nafifeed sa utak mo, di mo maiiwasang hindi ka mahawa ng negativity. Kaya if mapapansin nyo I try to be positive sa bawat post ko,” she said.

(I read a lot of bad news and feel negative vibes which one can get from social media and television. When it is always fed in your mind, you cannot help but be infected with negativity. So, if you notice, I try to be positive in my every post.)

Azul also chose not to open her feed on social media and just focused on her “life and present” privately. She observed that in social media, one needs to be presentable, which is not her personality. She also finds it burdensome to be thinking about captions, which for her is time consuming.

“Meron din time na hirap na rin akong maalala yung nangyari kahapon kasi nakafocus ako sa phone, sa social media. Ang naalala ko yung posts ng iba hindi na yung present na nangyayari sa akin at sa paligid ko,” she said.

(There are times when I find it difficult to remember what happened yesterday because I am focused on the phone, on social media. What I remember is what others posted, not the present things that happen to me and in my environment.)

By staying away from social media, she had time for her hobbies which include painting, crocheting, playing golf and doing pottery.

Azul feels that she’s not the only one who had this feeling, the reason why she is sharing it. She also said she will be able to post on her social media again, since she already knows how to manage her time and what to feed her mind, adding: “I will try to post more, to share positivity.” JB
