“The most horrifying thing in the world is to be without an adventure.” —George Foreman

With the absence of live parties and social events during the pandemic, dressing up just to see my therapist is something I look forward to. Even if the two-hour sessions require comfortable clothes for the healing segment, I still get all dolled up to parade my shopping finds of the week, this time from the Katutubo Market Fair.

There’s no doubt I love to shop, and maybe all my outfits will actually outlast my need for therapy as I move forward on my healing journey. Thank goodness I am now receiving multiple invitations to all different kinds of launches and store openings. Some are even on the same day, and I have to do a costume change in the car between events! It was such a thrill to do activities like these again.

Travel envy

Even better, all my forced savings from last year’s cancelled vacation trips can now be used. I had travel envy from cruise photos of good friends Karen Davila, Joanne Rae Ramirez and Citti Travel founder Shan David. They took an expedition to the Arctic on board the Silversea Cloud. Because it is a smaller ship, there is a more intimate feel on board with absolutely stellar restaurants, a library, a gym and even a salon. Karen even shared that the crew outnumbers the guests, with half of them Filipinos.

Silversea Expeditions (tel. 0917-6316541; email [email protected]) lets guests experience the ultimate in luxury while exploring the breathtaking polar regions of the Arctic and Antarctica. Each expedition is unique because you get to see a myriad of wildlife when nature allows it—polar bears and walruses in the north, penguins and whales in the south.

I am looking forward to my own cruise adventure to Antarctica early next year with Shan and some friends. Postponed due to the pandemic, this long overdue trip will surely be one of my greatest adventures. With travel opening up especially by next year, I am excited to explore South America and gain new memories and of course, do a lot of retail therapy!

Sitting pretty

In the meantime, I have to just dream of long-distance travels while enjoying my new Ogawa massage chair. Since the delivery of this state-of-the-art and fully automated unit, I have spent an hour daily to de-stress and zone out!

Born in Malaysia in 1996, Ogawa (ogawaworld.net) started as a health and wellness retail store until it swiftly expanded its reach in the Philippine market in 2011, with over 30 stores nationwide, including its cozy showroom and pop-up stores.

I was so late in attending the opening of the first store of Clé de Peau Beauté (follow @cledepeaubeautephilippines on Facebook; cledepeau-beaute.com/ph) because I fell asleep during my thermal kneading session on my Ogawa chair. The best part is I don’t have to worry about being exposed to any virus and still get the massage I need.

Face-to-face events

It was great to catch up with the real world and feel that everything is back to normal. I was also so happy to attend an event face to face. And of course, thrilled to receive giveaways.

To celebrate the official launch of Clé de Peau Beauté and its first flagship boutique located in Greenbelt 5, Makati, the ceremony started with a ballet performance by ACTS Manila, followed by the unlocking graced by Shiseido Philippines managing director Michael Goh, alongside Makati City Mayor Abby Binay-Campos, Small Laude and Hindy Weber.

In the memorable evening commemorating the brand’s milestone, the event was attended by makeup artists, beauty experts and some of Manila’s social butterflies.
