“The Iconic Chair Reimagined” gives a whole new meaning to furniture

Remember your college philosophy class where you discussed the “chair-ness” of a chair, and if a chair is really a chair at all? That curious (and slightly confusing) thought was given to us courtesy of Plato, but this time around, we’ll be able to see how 19 artists define the most basic yet philosophically charged furniture piece of all, the chair.

“The Iconic Chair Reimagined” is an art show collaboration with Mr. Chair by Torto Canga and Meryll Chavez. A collection of artists, namely Reen Barrera,
 MM Yu,
Martin Honasan,
Lynyrd Paras,
Alvin Villaruel
, Everywhere We Shoot,
Van Tuico,
 Kobusher,
Dr. Karayom,
 Wyndelle Remonde
, Wipo,
Buboy Cañafranca
, Ciane Xavier,
Mariano Ching,
Jigger Cruz
, Luis Santos,
Jeffrey Jay Jarin,
Chalk Zaldivar, and
Garapata

are asked to design their own renditions of an Eames shell chair, with all pieces curated by Ricky Francisco.
